
Ruth and her husband of 33 years, Doug Ellis, are the proud parents of six children. To aid in bridging the gap between studying music and making money in music, Ruth founded the Vocal Instructor Academy, which she teaches courses in pedagogy and entrepreneurship.

She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Utah, completed the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute training at Shenandoah Conservatory and is a member of the Marketing Impact Academy.

Ellis earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Manhattan School of Music and studied and performed in New York for fourteen years. Ruth is currently serving as Governor of the NATS Cal Western Region and sits on the NATS National Board.ĭr. Ruth thoroughly enjoys teaching voice in both the classical and contemporary areas at BYU, she taught crossover voice at Snow College for five years, has taught at the Ruth Ellis Vocal Academy since 2000 and is a frequent guest teacher/presenter at many other schools and universities across the country. Of one performance the New York Daily News reported she sang with “soaring dramatic authority.” Ruth Ellis has enjoyed singing numerous operatic and music theater roles and from Queens to Wardrobes and concertizes regularly having sung 58 concerts in venues across the nation and a few across the pond. We seek to encourage interest in collaborative piano among student pianists through community outreach and education of fellow piano teachers and sponsoring events that recognize outstanding collaborative work among young pianists.ĭr. The mission of the Collaborative Pianists Guild of Utah is to raise awareness, expand vision, and promote excellence in the art of collaborative piano and to create a liaison between collaborative pianists and the musical community of Utah.

Outside of the musical theater, Mason is a dedicatee and avid researcher of the life and music of John Cage.Formed in 2019 in Orem, Utah, the Collaborative Pianists Guild of Utah is an 元C trade association (tax-exempt) that supports its members with professional resources and continuing education. Mason has developed a show celebrating the world of Jerry Herman entitled No Blue Monday. He has worked with industry pros such as Taylor Negron, Steve Martin, Laura Osnes, and Santino Fontana. He frequently collaborates on new works, solo and group cabarets, and accompanies auditions throughout NYC. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mason is the guest music director and conductor of Louisiana State University’s annual spring musical theater showcase Singo de Mayo. Plus, honestly its rare to find a good accompanist, so its definitely good to get those skills and. In New York City, his playing and teaching venues, past and present, include LaGuardia High School, Amas Musical Theatre, MTCA (Musical Theater College Auditions), The New York Film Academy, Applause NY, Broadway Classroom, The West End Bar and Lounge, Sing for Your Seniors, The United Nations International School, The M Center in Brooklyn, and music director of the current Off-Broadway production of Naked Boys Singing.Īs music director and/or pianist, highlight shows include: RENT, Les Miserables, The Addams Family, Spelling Bee, A Funny Thing…Forum, Little Shop of Horrors, I Love a Piano, and Dreamgirls. Since moving to New York Jacob has music directed many shows at 54 Below (1776, Band Geeks, Duets v.2, ect.), assisted on many readings of new shows, performed on keys for Broadway Sings Pink, and become a cello sub for the Broadway productions of Wicked and Les Mis. He played piano for over 3,000 voice lessons during his time there and constantly played piano and/or cello for the shows. While in college he began to work with the Musical Theater program extensively. Jacob attended the Conservatory of Music (CCM) in Cincinnati, Ohio for Cello Performance under the teaching of Yehuda Hanani and Ilya Finkelshteyn. Jacob is a classically trained cellist and pianist originally from Lexington, Kentucky with a love for accompanying musical theater singers. You’ll find him covering keyboard books at WICKED Broadway, playing auditions and appointments at Telsey and Company Casting, numerous cruise ship calls, casting director workshops and various singer prep classes around New York City. Walter is a New York City based accompanist who is delighted and honored to work with Alisa Endsley and play piano for Sing For The Stage! A New York native, Walter graduated from the Hartwick College School of Music in 2006 and is actively working in the NYC audition circuit.
